Course Description

The Distance Learning Program is offered by the Seminary of The Christian Community as a first step for those discerning a call to priesthood, a call that is, at its heart, a call to become fully human in the image of God. At the same time, the program welcomes all who long to grow in their Christian vocation, who sense they are being sent by God into the world to do good, to bless, and to serve.

For those who would like to participate in a lighter way, the Presentation Only (Audit) option offers the opportunity to join Rev. Evans for the weekly presentation portion of the course without the spiritual formation meetings, or other requirements of full enrollment.

This year’s course will focus on awakening and strengthening our relationship with Christ and His kingdom through the gospel parables, prayer, and aspects of our holy liturgy. The parables will offer windows into the spiritual laws of the Kingdom of God and into how those laws may differ from the laws of the world around us. Through prayer, liturgy, and the festival epistles, we will explore our relationship with Christ and the Father and deepen our understanding of communion and our divine interdependence.

For auditors, the course begins with on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, and meets weekly via Zoom at 7:00-8:30 ET. Auditors are invited to attend the approximately 45-minute presentation at the beginning of each class followed by break-out room discussions. The main presentation will be recorded for those who cannot attend in person.

Before October 13, participants will receive further information about joining the course by Zoom.

Suggested Donation:
$300–500 per trimester / $900–1,500 for the year.

Follow-up information will be shared with registrants regarding donations to the Seminary.

At the heart of this year’s course is an invitation to ask what it means not simply to know about Christ and His kingdom, but to enter more deeply into relationship with that living reality. Christ carries within himself a realm, a kingdom, and a new community with which we can unite. The Kingdom of God is not merely something distant or future: it is at hand.

Through the parables, prayer, and our holy liturgy, we will explore how this relationship can gradually nourish and reshape our lives, forming in us a new identity rooted in Christ.
